Meeting in Deva 11.12.2017-11.17.2017

14 host families – 8 teachers – 15 host students - students of the host school

5 teachers, 5 students. 

Activities:

Sunday: Arrival of the participants of the guest schools. 

Monday:

·        Welcome of the teachers and students of the partner schools with a traditional ceremony (bread and salt) offered by students of the school.

·        The principal and the responsible project leader of the school welcome the guests and the guest introduce the participants

·        The participants get to know the buildings, classes and teachers during a tour through the building.

·        Reception by the local school inspectors.

·        Visiting the fortress of Deva. From there the guests were able to see the river Mures.

Tuesday:

·        Trip to the underground-hydropower-station in Hateg: Introduction of the powerplant, the array of the dams and the used technical devices. The importance of the power plant for energy supply was explained. It was surprising that the underground building is cheaper than building it at ground level. On the way to Hunedoara we crossed dams that that are damming the river.

·        Visit of Humyadi Castle in Hunedoara.

Wednesday:

·        Presentations: Students and teachers introduced their home countries, hometowns, schools and activities.

·        Presentations: Students introduced the results of activities according to the workplan-

·        Workshop: Design of a project logo: After an introduction (size, necessary elements, used materials) the students designed a logo in mixed groups. The drafts were  compared in the plenum and the best draft got a prize.

·        Teacher’s meeting: See results below.

·        School show at the Art Theatre: At the end of the show the project was presented. Teachers and students of the participating schools sang the project song designed by a teacher of the German school.

Thursday:

·        Visit of the gold museum in Brad: Brad is located at (Depresiunea Brad) at the headwater of the river Crisul Alb. The exhibition about the history of gold mining is very interesting.  Various tools  that were used in gold mining are exhibited.

Friday: Visit of Sibiu (cultural centre of the area)

·        Astra Open Air museum: Main focus on water mills, old water vehicles, fishing equipment

Saturday: Departure

Dessimination:

·        Visit to the inspector at the local school agency;

·        Meeting with local media: TV-interview with the head of the school and the coordinator of the project

·        Joint appearance of the participants of the meeting in the Art Theatre of Deva presenting the project song.

·        Articles in the local newspapers in different countries.

·        Reports on the project in the different schools and exhibitions

Summary:

The Romania school organized a successful meeting that focused on getting to know each other, getting to know the partner countries and partner schools. All participants presented the results of the project-related activities up to now and participated in project-related activities (excursions, workshops, presentations). In teacher meetings the further course of the project was planned.

Results of teachers‘ meetings:

·        The planned activities were carried out.

·        As the project progresses, the individual activities in the partner schools are documented and the results are sent to the German school to combine them into one final product.

·        Next project meeting in Croatia: 23. – 27. March 2018/ Germany: 24.09. – 28.09.2018

·        Homepage: The Romanian school sends a login so that every school can upload its material.

·        Calendar: All schools start their competition now..

·        Mobility pass: The mobility pass is not required for the time being. It is not relevant for our students (age).

·        Shirts with the project logo: The Romanian school will order them and bring them to the next meeting (send size).

Comments about visit

I very much enjoyed meeting the colleagues and again recognized what a wonderful atmosphere we have in our team. It was also great to see students improve their English and of course gain self-confidence in speaking and cooperate with people of another culture. It was interesting to see the hydro-powerplant and the damn system of the river.

A wonderful week in which I learned a lot about hosts and Romania. There was only a small lack of activities directly related to the river.

Thanks for your great hospitality. I got very interesting impressions from your beautiful country, where I have never been before.
