Bršadin


Bršadin is a village in Trpinja municipality, Vukovar-Srijem County, Croatia. It is located on the D55 highway between Vukovar and Vinkovci. Bršadin is first mentioned in historical sources in 1279 under the name Boršod. Boršod was located on an elevated area known as the "Old Village", about two kilometers west of the present day settlement. Boršod decays after 1526 Ottoman Empire breakthrough into Syrmia and Slavonia. After 1529, Suleiman the Magnificent colonized place with first Orthodox families, Vlachsfrom north Serbia and north-eastern Bosnia, and after 1543 people from the central part of the Balkans peninsula. . The river Vuka flows along the village. Vuka is a river in eastern Croatia, a right tributary of the Danube river. At 112 kilometres (70 miles), it is the 13th-longest river flowing through Croatia and it has a drainage area of 644 square kilometres (249 square miles). The river is located in Vukovar-Srijem County, in the Slavonia region. It empties into the Danube at the town of Vukovar, which got its name from the river. The ancient name of Pannonian Illyrians for Vuka was Volcos.
